When Make-A-Want New Zealand posted a job on Builderscrack, it was clear this wasn’t simply any venture. They have been on the lookout for tradies to assist lay the muse — actually and figuratively — for a yard cabin that might give 15-year-old Benjamin an area to name his personal.
Benjamin, who has cystic fibrosis and is on the autism spectrum, thrives in a relaxed atmosphere. “Our family is busy and noisy with 4 children,” explains his mum, Shelley.
“Ben doesn’t like a variety of noise, and he enjoys spending time on his personal, so we thought it’d be good for him to have an area the place he can go to chill out.”
